IBEX 15-minute prices since 1 Oct 2025: what changed for PV
From delivery day 1 October 2025, the IBEX day-ahead market clears a separate price for every 15-minute interval – 96 prices a day instead of 24 – as part of the EU-wide SDAC switch. Trading now uses the same 15-minute unit as imbalance settlement and ESO schedules. PV owners should read prices per quarter-hour, curtail per quarter-hour and check contracts that refer to an hourly IBEX price.

Imbalance and balancing groups for PV plants in Bulgaria
An imbalance is the gap between a plant’s registered schedule and its metered output. ESO settles it per 15-minute period with the balancing group coordinator, usually the plant’s trader, who passes a share on to members under published allocation principles. Producers pay only when schedule and production differ, so accurate day-ahead and intraday schedules are the main lever.

Negative electricity prices in Bulgaria: what PV plants lose
Hours with a negative day-ahead price in Bulgaria rose from 11 in 2023 to 170 in 2025, with 166 in just over seven months of 2026. A PV plant that keeps exporting pays the negative price plus the €2.72/MWh grid access fee on every MWh, so for a plant without a premium the sensible minimum price is slightly above zero; premium plants should first check how the premium treats those intervals. Curtailing works best when the plan is already in the schedule sent to the trader the day before.

Day-ahead production schedules for PV plants in Bulgaria
A production schedule states how much a plant will feed in for each 15-minute interval of the next day – 96 values on a normal day. Distribution-connected PV plants send it to their balancing group coordinator, who notifies ESO; ESO’s deadline for trading schedules is 15:30 Bulgarian time on the day before delivery. Producers pay imbalance only where the schedule and metered output differ, so weather, availability and planned curtailment all belong in it.
